APH : Vital Regions by Scarabsi APH : Vital Regions by Scarabsi
Because, as most of you should remember, Axis Powers Hetalia is a story about countries.

The "Prussia will capture your vital regions" meme has gone out of style by now (I think), but while it was running I felt like the reason why it got so annoying from overuse is that the joke was being told completely wrong. The whole reason why it was funny was because it sounded like it was talking about dicks, but it wasn't! The vital region of a country is a part of it that is very important, and would be a great danger to the country if it were to be stolen. Sure, reproductive organs are important too, but. . . you don't need them to survive.

Gahhh, I ended up rambling. Well, so's long as people remember that the characters in the story are not humans then we're fine. ^^; Now back to having a fun, awesome fandom with fanfiction bibliographies! *fistpump*

Incidentally, your liver is in charge of lots of important things, "including detoxification, protein synthesis, and production of biochemicals necessary for digestion"; in other words, it fixes things that are harming the body, creates new things to make the body function, and is in charge of organizing the body's intake and processing of outside resources.

. . . . I am so funny! \o/

OMG I just this second made a comment to my friend about how "vital regions" makes me think of important internal organs more than genitals. I'm psychic! :D And Prussia's expression is priceless.

I found the "anatomical vital regions" meme annoying because of the implication that raping the invade-ee is a necessary part of invading. If that was canon, it would be a seriously gross show, not to mention people would have figured out Hungary's gender much sooner. Seriously, freaky. Doesn't stop me from giggling at the phrase "vital regions", though, because I am secretly five.

Yeah! Though I understand why it became so popular *coughpornbasedfandomcough*, something in the way it would translate from the anatomy of a country to a human body and the terminology used always made me think the actual "parts" discussed would be actual vital parts. Contrary to what the internet thinks, humans can survive without genitals.

And of course, the original jokes are actually funny in the first place because it appeals to the Mozart in us. :giggle: Hee hee. He said "vital regions."

The anime does it worse. "Manly tract of land", kesesese. Less subtle, but at least it doesn't carry the "thoracic cavity" connotations.

Haha, someone messing in your peritoneal? . . . . actually, that would be like. . . running in the main national sewers. . . :(

Suddenly all the sewer levels in video games got a lot more personal. D: D:

Y'know, I actually did write a fic in which South Korea handed over his vital regions to North. In the fic, North's a kumiho (Korean equivalent of a kitsune), and requires human liver to survive, and SK can regrow anything she eats.

o_o;;;; Eeeeergh, that'd really suck! Though yeah, that does sound like something that happens in old fox-spirit legends a lot.
